POLICE SYSTEM IN PAKISTAN,

POLICE SYSTEM IN PAKISTAN,
INTRODUCTION

The present day Police system in vogue in Pakistan is based on the Police act of 1861. The said Police Act was enacted by the then British India Government in Delhi. This was a result of the direct rule in India by the then British Queen Victoria under whose order the control of India was taken over from the British East India Company. This Act envisaged a Police System based on provincial setup. This Police Act was for whole of India to be implemented by all the Provinces. Similarly Pakistan penal code was also enacted by the then British Crown in 1860 in the same spirit. The evidence act and the criminal procedure were also updated and implemented subsequently. The Police Act 1861 had created a new organization of Police in Provinces.
